The Murray Hut branch secretary/treasurer was recently elected vice president of the state organisation.
The vote took place at the CWA State Conference in Bathurst.
“This is an extremely important position in the CWA executive committee, and one that Penny will excel at,” Murray Hut president Nola Pinnuck said.
Mrs Sloane will also continue in her role with the Murray Hut branch, and is pleased to report the success of the recent Mother’s Day raffle.
Held at the Tocumwal Foreshore Market on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, the raffle raised almost $1000 in just a few hours.
The winner of the hamper was Lynn Haswell of Barooga, and the Country Club Hotel voucher went to Pauline Wilson (Tocumwal).
Murray Hut CWA was formed in 2008.
The foundation members were from Finley and Tocumwal, which resulted in a more generic name for the branch.
With a current membership of 20, Mrs Pinnuck said more members are always welcome.
Monthly meetings are held in Finley at the Country Club Hotel on the first Tuesday of each month (expect January and July) at 7.30pm. A pre-meeting dinner option is available, starting at 6pm.
Murray Hut Branch is one of eight branches within the Sturt Group in Southern NSW, the others including Coleambally, Jerilderie, Berrigan and Hay.
It is aligned with CWA of Australia – a body which advances the rights and equity of women, families and communities in Australia through advocacy and empowerment, especially for those living in regional, rural and remote Australia.
The CWA of Australia has been in existence since 1927, and its members enjoy fellowship, companionship, and robust discussions.
