At Council’s 22 May meeting Aunty Gail Manderson, a respected local Wiradyuri Elder, performed the Welcome to Country in recognition of National Sorry Day, this Friday 26 May, and National Recognition Week 2023 which begins this Saturday 27 May.

Council resolved to receive a report in response to a Notice of Motion as requested by Councillor Richard Foley to identify the strategies and processes to engage with the building and construction industry.

Council endorsed the Annual 2022/23 Waste Disposal Subsidy for the total amount of $1,000.00 for Wagga Menshed.

Financial Performance Report
Council considered information presented on the 2022/23 budget and Long-Term Financial Plan and resolved to approve the proposed 2022/23 budget variations for the month ended 30 April 2023. Council noted the balanced budget position and approved the proposed budget variations to the 2022/23 Long Term Financial Plan Capital Works Program, including new projects and timing adjustments. Council also accepted the grant funding offers presented in the report.

RP-5 REVIEW OF FINANCE POLICIES – PROPOSED ADOPTION
Councillor Hayes heading to NSW Public Libraries Association annual conference.
Council endorsed representation and the appointment of Councillor Hayes to attend the NSW Public Libraries Association (NSWPLA) SWITCH 2022 Conference being held in Penrith 14 – 17 November 2023. The annual SWITCH conference is a forum in NSW for Councillors, Council Officers and Library staff to assemble for professional development. The conference provides an important opportunity for delegates to learn about contemporary practices.

Draft ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure on Public Land’ Policy to go on Public Exhibition
Council endorsed placing the draft ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure on Public Land’ Policy (POL 054) on public exhibition for a period of 28 days from 27 May 2023 to 24 June 2023 and invite public submissions until 8 July 2023. Following the public exhibition period Council will receive a further report following the public exhibition and submission period addressing any submissions made.
