With the release of their fifth studio album ‘Blood Red’ due in July, roots-rock-country duo Busby Marou will embark on a three-month national tour from late August.
Set to play concerts in Gladstone, Bundaberg, Northern Rivers, Gold Coast, Adelaide Melbourne, Brisbane, Coffs Harbour, Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle, Rockhampton, Mackay, Cairns and Townsville, Busby Marou will be joined by Jem Cassar-Daley (for all dates except Sydney and Newcastle, where Melbourne guitar prodigy and songstress Steph Strings will support).
The follow-up to their 2019 album ‘The Great Divide’ (which was nominated for Best Blues and Roots Album at the 2020 ARIA Awards), Busby Marou have released the singles ‘Conversation’, ‘Crazy Like That’, ‘Where I Wanna Be’ and ‘Everything Is Beautiful’ that feature on ‘Blood Red’.
Tom Busby and Jeremy Marou refer to the sound of their fifth album as their “bread and butter”.
“Tom and I, acoustic guitars with vocal harmonies,” explains Marou. Adds Busby: “But on ‘Blood Red’, there’s an extra ingredient: ambition.”
“It sums up a 15-year music career,” continues Marou discussing the creative direction of ‘Blood Red’. “We’ve gone from being green and not quite ready to knowing what we want we want and co-producing this album.”
“The main reason we’re still here is because we’ve always stuck to our songwriting method,” adds Busby, “which is just a couple of blokes with two guitars and melodies telling stories. We haven’t overthought it. This time in particular, we backed ourselves.”
‘Blood Red’ is released 21 July, 2023. Pre-order it.
