A Surf Coast skipper has taken social media by storm. WATCH THE VIDEO.
Torquay resident Pauline Concha has racked up thousands of views and 77k Instagram followers showing off her jump rope tricks.
The local influencer said the fascination with freestyle skipping started two years ago when Covid lockdowns closed gyms across the state.
“At the time, I had a wedding to prepare for and I couldn’t do much else,” she said.
“I found an old jump rope in my garage, and started practising a couple of times a week.”
After moving to Torquay, Ms Concha took to filming herself performing tricks outdoors – inadvertently tapping into a throwing online community.
“I wanted to share the passion I had for the sport, so I made an account and didn’t think much of it at first,” she said.
“I started skipping and doing tricks at the beach. I also love where I live and wanted to promote that as well.”
From there, she started to teach herself rope tricks and show off what she’d learned.
Ms Concha said the sport was easily accessible, cheap and portable.
“It’s something you can do inside your house,” she said.
“You can bring a skipping rope practically anywhere. It’s an easy way to keep fit.”
