We’ve reported in our print editions the fashions of Cannes during the film festival, as well as the broader marketing trends. And while L’Oréal continues to cut back on keeping media in the loop, Chanel has upped the ante.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell was photographed on the red carpet at the Festival de Cannes in look 40, a backless dress with bow and bustier in red, black and white, from Chanel’s spring 2022 haute couture collection, with sunglasses, bag and shoes from the maison. Marion Cotillard walked the red carpet for Little Girl Blue in a tweed jacket from Chanel’s cruise 2023–4 collection, with shoes, high jewellery and make-up to match.
Naturally, it was Chanel cruise 2023 again for Cotillard at the earlier photo call, in a pink and green cashmere top with matching cardigan and blue-and-beige denim shorts (look 29), with Chanel sunglasses, high jewellery and make-up. French–Senegalese director Ramala-Toylaye Sy (Banel E Adama) wore a leather top with matching pants and a pink cashmere pullover from the Chanel métiers d’art 2022–3 collection (with Chanel shoes and make-up), and Lily Gladstone (in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon) wore a black-and-white satin cape with removable overcape, and a short black sheath dress from the Chanel haute couture spring–summer 2023 collection.
