The Ballarat GovHub is a new government office complex located in the heart of Ballarat. Home to 1000 Victorian Government employees including up to 600 public sector positions relocating from Melbourne, this building is a major step towards revitalising the City of Ballarat.
John Wardle Architects designed the building to respect and connect the heritage assets in the surrounding area, working closely with Development Victoria and the wider Ballarat community to deliver high architectural value while helping to revitalise this regional city.
This new complex includes:
- Ground floor space
- Glass conservatory lining the civic hall to the GovHub
- Lower hall space for multipurpose use
- Five storeys of office space
The entry space on the ground floor features double height ceilings built using Au.diSlat Tasmanian Oak solid timber. The solid timber ceilings make for a striking feature while delivering the acoustic benefits needed for a busy space.
Strip LED lighting enhances the linear aspect of this product. This entry is accessible by all employees and the general public, so it was imperative that it had high acoustic performance.
“The Ballarat GovHub is creating a new home for skilled workers who will make a great contribution to this city.”
