The South Burnett Thrashers were short some players this weekend due to illness, but that didn’t stop the team from notching up another win in the Darling Downs competition.
The victory has taken them to the top of of the B Grade competition ladder, although St George and Goondiwindi still have games to play.
The Thrashers took on the Condamine Cods in Toowoomba on Saturday.
At half-time, the South Burnett team was ahead 7-0 after Jeff Iro scored a try, converted by Nikolao Petueli.
“The second half is where the real action took place,” club president Jamie Shirlaw said.
“Epa Turaganivalu, Tiai Tuiloma, Amosa Nuu and Pex Waqa each scored tries and Nikolao kicked another conversion.
“The final score was 29 to 12.
“Our scrum was very strong again.
“With a set piece solid, our backs used the forwards’ dominance to find space and capitalise on it.
“Our halves Amosa and Jeff played really well, linking up with Nikolao at fullback who had another great game.”
The Thrashers now have a week off before facing the Toowoomba Bears on June 3 in Toowoomba.
