The TV gardening guru welcomed a baby boy earlier this year at the age of 52, some three decades after becoming a dad for the first time.
A fourth celebrity was revealed on The Masked Singer 2022, with Jamie Durie revealed as the Tiger.
The TV landscaper, who welcomed a baby boy, Nash Durie, with his partner Ameka Jane, 36, in February, sat down with Stellar to talk about his fresh perspective on fatherhood. The pair also have 22-month-old daughter, Beau.
Durie first became a dad when he was 23 with the birth of his now 28-year-old daughter, Taylor, from his previous relationship with Michelle Glennock.
“I guess I’ve got another level of tolerance … You absorb more, you have more to share because you’ve got all of this life experience now at 52 that I didn’t have when I was 23,” he told the magazine.
“All that stuff that I’ve absorbed [over that time] is this library of beautiful content that I can now share with my daughter and my new son, and that’s just the best gift.”
As for the physical side of things, well, Durie concedes he certainly feels “more tired” this time around.
“I feel more tired than I’ve been for a long, long time,” he said.
“But every time I feel tired, I look over to Ameka – who looks incredible and doesn’t show any signs of tiredness whatsoever, despite averaging four hours of sleep a night because the baby is feeding every 90 minutes – and her stoicism is astounding”
Durie announced his engagement to Jane in February 2021. The pair are yet to officially wed.
They met in Los Angeles, where Durie typically spends half the year with his eldest daughter Taylor, some time in 2019.
“I’ve been married to my career for a while. I’m looking forward to having some more babies. At least two,” he said that same year.
Durie was previously engaged to Lisa Christie, a runner-up on his TV show Top Design, but she broke things off abruptly in 2013.
The gardening guru has been engaged three times before but has never married.
Stellar is out today in The Sunday Telegraph (NSW), Sunday Herald Sun (Victoria), The Sunday Mail (Queensland) and Sunday Mail (South Australia).
