The May long weekend is inching closer. In fact, it is almost here and you can almost taste it. Which makes us think of BBQ’s. And camping. And golf. And fishing. Working in the yard. Seeding for producers. And…..well you get the picture.
Here is a rundown of some local activities and things you may want to check out this Victoria Day weekend.
Stride Place will be a busy place as six teams remain in the battle for the Centennial Cup. The Terrier play Yarmouth from Nova Scotia tonight at 7:30 and IF they win, they would face the Battleford North Stars tomorrow night at 7:30. There is also a semi-final game Saturday at 3:30 and the champion will be crowned Sunday after the 3 pm game. Tickets are available for all the games here. If you can’t make it out to see them live, you can listen here.
How about some golf? It is supposed to be sunny for the most part all weekend and courses are in great shape for the time of year. Portage, Southport, Bridges in Starbuck, MacGregor, Gladstone, Scottswood Links in Elm Creek and the Delahunt course at Treherne are all taking tee times now.
Fishing? Back again for the umpteenth year is the fishing derby in support of Children’s Wish at Sportsmen’s Corner. In fact, almost all provincial parks are now open and camping is a popular May long weekend activity for sure.
The Treherne North Stars are back with their annual May long weekend slo-pitch tournament. It raises money for different causes in the area and is usually the first slo-pitch event each year. Details here.
How about garage sale-ing? To find out where they are any given weekend or to list yours for free this summer, click here! As of writing this, 8 are listed for the weekend, but one of those is the town wide event in Westbourne.
