BELLTOWN — Belltown scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge Lewistown, 9-8, on Friday night in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League.
The win kept pace with Reedsville, which beat Beaver Springs in the first game of a double header, 9-6. The second game was too late to get into Saturday’s paper.
Lewistown led 8-4 going into the seventh, but Belltown rallied for the win. Reese Christine started the rally with a two-run double. Tristin Pent had an RBI single that made it 8-7 and then the hero of the day for Belltown was Kykle Shirk who won the game with a two-run RBI single.
Belltown finished with nine hits with Christine getting three including two doubles.
Lewistown, which jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings, had seven hits.
Dylan Wray and Bo Reeder each had two hits for Lewistown. Reese Hine and Eli Hower each had singles and Landen Bowen added a double.
Easton Lepley got the win for Belltown in relief. Wray went the whole game for Lewistown until he had to be relieved in the seventh.
Reedsville 9,
Beaver Springs 6
MILROY — Reedsville’s Austin McKnight batted and pitched Reedsville to a 9-6 victory over Beaver Spring.
McKnight hit his second home run of the year in the fourth, a three-run shot that gave Reedsville an 8-3 lead. McKnight went the first four innings in gaining the victory. He struck out four, walked three and gave up four hits.
Reedsville had seven players get hits with Madden Weaver, Wyatt Parkes, Gavin Powell and McKnight each getting two.
McKnight had a double to go along with his homer and Parkes also had a double.
Beaver Springs had seven hits. Braxton Smith knocked in three runs with two hits, including a double. Colten Aumiller smashed a triple and Westin Kuhns had a double.
Strodes Mills 9, Milroy 5
LEWISTOWN — Strodes Mills scored five runs in the fourth inning to pull away from Milroy for a 9-5 win.
Strodes has now won four of its last six games to stay in contention for the top spot. Strodes now has a 7-2 record and sits in third place. Evan Strohecker started for Strodes Mills on the mound and picked up the victory. He pitched into the third inning. The Beamer brothers finished for Strodes as Ezra Beamer pitched the middle innings and Joel Beamer got the save with three innings of work.
The trio of Strodes pitchers allowed just five Milroy hits. Blaze Shreffler had a big day for Milroy getting three hits. Brayden Stitt and Oaklan Smith had the other two singles for Milroy.
Strodes Mills had seven hits, all singles from Michael McNitt, Chase Moore, Brayden Hunter, Ben Moore, Dylan Stahl and the Beamer brothers.
Milroy’s Karl Shirey came in late in the game and struck out five in two innings of work.
Burnham 22, Belleville 3
BELLEVILLE — Burnham had 18 hits as it beat Belleville, 22-3. The game was over after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Carter Yohn and Liam Shaffer each had three hits. Five other players had two hits, Landon Haigh, Chase Leister, Noah Wolfkiel, Evan Breon and Lincoln Ruble.
Noah Wray, a rookie, was the starter on the mound and picked up the victory.
