A Queensland man has become a multi-millionaire after purchasing his first Oz Lotto entry.
He was at work, taking a “smoko” break, when his colleague told him someone in Gladstone had won the jackpot prize in draw 1526.
The Gladstone man checked his entry and discovered he had won one of the two Division One prizes, taking home $15 million.

“I was just in the car on the way to get some smoko, and my mate told me someone in Gladstone had won division one in Oz Lotto,” the winner told The Lott.
“I thought, ‘Oh, I had entry into that draw’.
“Next thing you know, I’m on the phone to you! What a whirlwind morning.”
It was the first time he had purchased an entry in the game, and the newbie reacted to his life-changing win with disbelief and shock.
“Stop it, brother!” he yelled through the phone when The Lott official confirmed his win. “This is incredible, thank you!
“I’ve never even played Oz Lotto before. It’s my first time, so I think a bit of beginner’s luck might be at play here.
“Oh, I think I might throw up. I need to sit down.
“I’m struggling to process this, mate! Oh my god, I’m a millionaire.”
The Gladstone man was unsure of how we would spend his winnings, or what to do next.
“What do I do now? I’ve got no idea what I’ll do yet,” he said.
His winning numbers were 37, 22, 45, 21, 34, 17 and 5, with supplementary numbers 47, 41 and 35.
NewsXpress Kin Kora owner Ian Chapman told The Lott he and his team at the Gladstone newsagency were also celebrating, but the win has not been their first.
“Customers are excited as well. They love to see that major prizes happen locally as well,” he said.
“We last sold a division one winning entry about three years ago, and have sold seven division one wins since Lotto commenced in Queensland. This is the first Oz Lotto division one win we have sold.
“Our congratulations go to the winner, and we hope that they use it wisely.”
