As the 2023 South West Netball Football League season approaches its midway point, Donnybrook Blackwood are looking to return from a bye and shake things up against Bunbury.
The Donnybrook Blackwood Ravens will travel to the South West Sports Centre on Sunday, where they will face off against Bunbury during the competition’s Belt Up round this weekend.
Sitting in fifth place on the ladder with a 2-3 record, the Ravens find themselves in a tight battle for fourth spot with Carey Park and Bunbury, separated only by percentage.
After falling short against Carey Park last fortnight, the Ravens will return to the court with determination to notch their third win of the season.
Meanwhile, Bunbury will be looking to show resilience and bounce back after falling short in an exciting contest against Eaton last weekend.
Despite the 55-41 loss, there were plenty of positives to take away from the match with strong defence by Isabelle Szemray and mid-court work by Sarah Leitch and Kacey Walsh.
Elsewhere, Augusta Margaret River will be looking to redeem their round seven efforts when they go up against Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault for the second week in a row, this time at Leschenault Leisure Centre.
During their match-up last weekend, HBL dominated early and kept the Hawks to scoring just four goals in the opening quarter, then put their foot down during the last quarter to seal the 49-32 win.
On Saturday, Busselton will be looking to continue building form and consolidate a spot in the top three when they host Carey Park at Geographe Leisure Centre.
In third place on the ladder with a 3-3 record, Busselton have been gradually building momentum following two consecutive wins over South Bunbury in recent weeks.
The shooting combination of Maia Bratton and Holly Jo Delaney proved a favourable formula to Busselton’s success, with the pair dominating the scoreboard in both of Busselton’s two most recent matches, setting a tough challenge for Carey Park’s defenders.
Meanwhile, Carey Park will be returning from a bye in round seven hoping to cause an upset on the back of their 54-40 win over Donnybrook Blackwood last fortnight.
