The Reds will be hosting their Tunisian rivals in Cairo in the second leg of the African Champions League semi-final.
Ahly’s doctor revealed Tuesday that the 34-year-old keeper is suffering from a calf injury and that he already started a rehabilitation programme during training.
However, Ahly didn’t announce the final situation regarding the keeper’s availability for Friday’s test yet but reports claim that he is likely to be ruled out as he still needs 10 days at least to be fit.
And yet, Ahly has already put one foot forward on the road to the prestigious tournament final after an impressive 3-0 win over Esperance in Rades last week.
The Pharaohs keeper El Shennawy played a key role in putting the 10-time African champions Ahly on course for a fourth consecutive Champions League final and an overall 11th title.
