Predicting what’s about to happen in the forthcoming season is rather difficult. After all, if it were an exact science then bookmakers would go out of business.
Our Pitching In Isthmian Premier supporters, however, did rather well. Of course, there were notable exceptions to that rule- you thought that Play Off Winners Aveley would finish thirteenth and that their Semi-Final opponents Canvey Island would finish in fourteenth, with a third of the four Semi-Finalists, Cray Wanderers, in eighteenth- but in truth we suspect that very few people outside of Parkside, the Movie-Starr Stadium and Hayes Lane would have expected much different, which is why the three clubs in question deserve enormous credit. We suspect the Gulls and Wands will be loaded with much higher expectations for 23-34.
Pitching In Isthmian Premier- predicted table 22-23
That said, let’s look at the positives.
First and foremost, you predicted that Bishop’s Stortford would be champions, and indeed they were. You were only one place out so far as Hornchurch were concerned, as you placed them in third. Billericay Town and Folkestone Invicta let you down a little, but your prediction that Lewes would finish fifth was so nearly on the money- only goal difference made you wrong.
You were almost right when it came to predicting our relegated sides, as Herne Bay, Bowers & Pitsea and Brightlingsea Regent sadly managed to prove you right. You got the final positions of Wingate & Finchley and Corinthian-Casuals back to front, however- expecting the side in blue to go down and the side in pink and brown to stay up.
You were absolutely right when you predicted Haringey Borough’s fifteenth place, one place out for Horsham, and two places out for Hastings United and Carshalton Athletic.
