Egyptian authorities have allowed up to 50,000 fans to attend al ahly’s encounter with Wydad Casablanca in the first-leg of the caf champions league final.
Al Ahly are set to face Wydad Casablanca in the 2023 CAF Champions League final, with the first-leg taking place on June 4 in Cairo, before they meet again a week later in Casablanca.
The Reds made their way into the CAF champions League final after a 3-0 win against Esperance in the first leg in Rades, and 1-0 at home in the second leg.
While Wydad qualified for the final after a 2-2 draw against Sundowns in the second leg, despite being held to a goalless draw at home in the first leg.
At first, Egyptian authorities have had permitted the presence of only 20,000 fans; however, the ministry of youth and sports later announced the approval of increasing the number of Al Ahly fans to 50,000 fans.
The clash between the Moroccan club and Al Ahly will be a repeat of the 2022 Champions League final, which witnessed Wydad win 2-0 over the Reds in Rabat.
The Red Devils are looking to clinch their 11th Champions League title, while their Moroccan opponents are bidding to keep the title, they won last year at the expense of Al Ahly.
