The world premiere of the Martin Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon took place at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 20, 2023. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, and John Lithgow.
It is based on a non-fiction book titled Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann. The plot focusses on a series of Oklahoma murders in the Osage Nation back in the 1920s, which are linked to oil discoveries on tribal land.
Movie goers already have a good idea about the kind of movie magic that DiCaprio and Scorsese can cook up together since their will mark their seventh collaboration, and from the trailer, it looks like fans will not be dissapointed.
Killers of the Flower Moon will have a theatrical release on October 6, 2023, and then eventually premiere on Apple TV+. However, the exact dates of the movie’s release have not been revealed yet.

The movie is also based on a book, but unlike Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, No Country for Old Men is written by Cormac McCarthy and is a work of fiction. However, it still has the same grittiness and intensity like Killers of the Flower Moon.
3) The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
Directed by Andrew Dominik, the movie stars Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck in the lead roles. The story focuses on Robert Ford, who has idolized Jesse James since he was a young boy. As it happens, he wants to work alongside his childhood hero, but soon his feeling starts to change.
Like Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, it also explores the real-life historical events, centering around Jesse James and his death at the hand of Robert Ford.
4) Wind River (2017)
Starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, Wind River is directed by Taylor Sheridan. The plot centers around a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service tracker and an FBI agent as they try and work together to solve the murder of a young teenager on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.
One of things that Martin Scorsese does really well is to keep the audience guessing till the very end. This movie has a similar vibe to Killers of the Flower Moon in that aspect and is intriguing enough to keep the audience hooked till the very end.
5) Nightmare Alley (2021)
Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the movie stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, and David Strathairn.
Nightmare Alley focuses on Stanton Carlisle, who climbs the ladder of success by swindling the elite. However, when he makes a plan to con a dangerous tycoon with help from a mysterious psychologist, things don’t go quite as planned.
Like Killers of the Flower Moon, this film has all the necessary suspense and thrills to keep the viewer hooked. The acting is superb, and it is one of the best psychological thrillers that one can watch.
Since Killers of the Flower Moon will release in theatres only in October, Martin Scorsese fans still have a long wait in front of them but these five intense and engrossing movies will certainly help make the wait a little more bearable.
