Each year the calendar has certain dates that everyone remembers: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Halloween. In southern California there’s another date to watch closely: when Coachella tickets release. The iconic festival which runs on two consecutive weekends in April each year always puts tickets on sale in June for the following year. For 2024 the festival runs on April 12 – 14 and repeats on April 19 – 21. Weekend One always sells out. Based on the strength of their 2023 event, there is no reason to believe it won’t sell out again on Friday.
There’s a process to gaining access to the tickets which are sent to you in the form of three day wristbands. AXSAXS requires that you register for an account on AXS to be able to purchase wristbands
Here is the full explanation of options and protocols to access the Coachella presale:
For those who haven’t yet been, Coachella is the iconic festival which opens festival season. Each year the El Dorado Polo club grounds are filled with art, music, food, and drinks along with one of the most thoughtfully curated mixtures of performers.
The grounds host two significant outdoor stages, a giant EDM structure complete with screens, lights and lasers, three massive tents, and a number of smaller spaces all of which host artists from around the globe. The magic of Coachella is both the iconic setting in the middle of the Coachella valley where once you’re on the field all you see is the festival itself and the beauty of nature in the distance as the hills rise into view. Like Disneyland, no external structures are within view, so your existence is completely within the festival itself, and that experience allows for complete immersion in the music and the crowd.
Goldenvoice, the creator of the Coachella, and now part of AEG has always used Coachella as a template to highlight both the trends currently breaking and the musicians who are on the cusp, mixed in with well known names and a smattering of musicians from the past. This mix gives the festival a “tasting menu” feel in which you can plan to see certain acts, but get sidetracked by something you never anticipated, but heard walking past the stage where it’s being played.
The 2023 lineup was truly curated. There were stellar performances by groups which had not necessarily been seen previously by the entirety of the audience. Standouts included Rosalia, Metro Boomin & Friends, Fisher + Chris Lake, Underworld, BLACKPINK, Labrinth, Angele, Momma, Tale of Us, Wet Leg, Elderbrook, SOFI TUKKER, The Blaze, Blondie, and Fred Again with Skrillex and Four Tet.
It’s impossible to see everything at Coachella in one weekend. What you will see is a truly expansive set of musical options, and with just a bit of adventure and curiosity, you’ll likely find something new you’ve never heard of before.
You’ll also have wonderful food options. This year’s standout was Pad Thai with tempura fried chicken from Farmhouse Kitchen in the Indio Central Market. Alternately, you can purchase a ticket for special dinners such as an omakase sushi dinner or the perennial favorite Outstanding In The Field dinner each night at a table for 300 in the Rose Garden where founder Jim Denevan and his team bring a different chef and menu each night of the festival to the most elegant festival dining al fresco event on the planet.
There is a reason Coachella is the trend setter for large festivals. If you’ve been, you already know why. If you haven’t, don’t miss out. Tickets are on sale on Friday. Typically, that’s when Weekend One sells out.
