It was messy start to the match up in Newcastle, with the home side gifting the Titans early field position, allowing the ball to bounce off the kick off and the error count for both sides keeping pace with the clock.
It would end up being the Knights who drew first blood, with a flying Dom Young planting down the ball off a Jackson Hastings kick to the corner. The Titans hit back through a rampaging David Fifita, who simply ran through defenders and into the in-goal area unphased.
The Gold Coast side continued to put pressure on the Knights and turned possession into points to go back to back through a stellar take from a soaring Phillip Sami ten minutes before half time.
With just 30 seconds until the break, Kalyn Ponga had the ball on a string for Tyson Frizell to slide over the line and leave the scores level at 12-all heading into the second half.
Neither team wasted any time getting back into it after the resumption of play, with Jayden Campbell going over for the visitors and Greg Marzhew scoring against his former side all with the first ten of the second forty.
Newcastle then went of to score three more four pointers in quick succession, including an impressive solo effort from Kalyn Ponga and a somewhat controversial try to Dane Gagai, in which the Titans argued unsuccessfully that Kieran Foran was denied the opportunity to defend due to Frizell.
A length of the field try to Fifita and another try to the scoring machine that is Alofiana Khan-Pereira gave the Titans a boost on the scoreboard but it was too little too late, as the home side also ran in two more tries in the final minutes of the game, giving doubles to Bradman Best and Young.
