Exciting galloper Think About It has drawn perfectly for his first Group 1 assignment in Saturday’s $1m Kingsford Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm.
The weight-for-age contest is one of two Group 1 races on the card, along with the Queensland Derby as the Queensland Racing Carnival switches across the Nudgee Road from Doomben to the more spacious Eagle Farm circuit.
The Kingsford Smith Cup was first run in 1964 and was run under handicap conditions until 1991 when changed to weight-for-age. The race gained Group 1 status in 2006.
This year a full field of 16 plus three emergencies has been declared with the field consisting of 14 stallions and geldings and two mares while the emergencies are two geldings and a mare.
Joe Pride’s Think It Over is shooting for his sixth straight win and he will start from barrier eight.
The five Group 1 winners in the field all fared well in the draw with the exception of last year’s runner-up Paulele which will start from barrier 16.
The other Group 1 winners are Eduardo (barrier 5), A Case Of You (barrier 6), Rothfire (barrier 7) and Converge (barrier 1).
No local favours were handed to the Archer winner Alpine Edge or Chris Munce’s Palaisipan with the pair drawing barriers 17 and 19 respectively.
