Nothing beats a good burger.
Whether you enjoy something meatier and a little bit saucy or the perfect plant-based patty, there are plenty of options out there for those who like their buns big and full.
Ahead of International Burger Day on Saturday 28 May, here are some of the best burger joints in Canberra. And yes, you can thank us later.
Little Theo’s (Kambah)
The only takeaway in Australia to be listed in the Good Food Guide, Little Theo’s has built a loyal following. Choose from Mooooo Cow Burgers (like the Whoa Mumma), Bum-nut Burgers (like the Super Mega Ultra Bum-Nut), Chicken Bwok Bwok Burgers (hello Chilli Cook) and Jow Pesce In A Bun (AKA fish burgers).
Vego? Don’t worry. There’s also a stacked Haloumi Burger complete with homemade Italian pesto, smashed avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, roasted red capsicum, onion and a hint of Portuguese chilli mayo.

Soul Cartel (Wanniassa, Watson)
Bringing Canberra the best New Orleans-inspired soul food, Soul Cartel is a must try. Not for the faint-hearted, the Double Cheeseburger features two 150g beef patties, two piles of bacon, four slices of cheese, fries and three different sauces.
You can even ‘hack’ the burger and add a couple of spring rolls…what are you waiting for?

Mookie Burger (Tuggeranong)
Craving a traditional American burger with something a little extra? Mookie is the place to go.
Their menu staples are equally delicious: sandwiched between traditional American potato buns you can get the classic Mookie Burger, the Mr. Miyagi with Char Siu grilled pork belly or even the Korokke with a Nori Rice bun. Add some potato gems on the side and your night is sorted.

If you’re near Woden’s newest gastropub, it would be rude not to try one of their burgers.
Choose from the Spicy Fried Chicken Burger, the Classic Cheeseburger or you prefer something a little more plant-based on your plate, the Mushroom and Tofu Burger is the one for you.

Yaki Boi (Phillip)
You’re going to need a two-hand grip for some of these burgers. Recently opening in Westfield Woden, Yaki Boi has a menu packed full of stacked options.
Our recommendation? The Canberra Sunset burger—it’s a beef burger with all the fixings including pineapple, pesto aioli and honey!
