Oh, the wonderful town of Glen Burnie, Maryland.
Having called this place home for many years, I’ve had the pleasure of exploring and indulging in the diverse culinary scene it has to offer.
From the vibrant flavors of international cuisine to the comfort of classic American dishes, my hometown has something for every palette.
In this article, I’ll share with you some of the best restaurants in Glen Burnie, Maryland, that I’ve discovered over the years so you, too, can experience the deliciousness my hometown has to offer.
Irina’s Crepes Cafe
One of my favorite spots to enjoy a delicious breakfast is Irina’s Crepes Cafe.
Every time I visit, I am always in for a treat!
The warm and friendly atmosphere instantly lifts my mood.
Their chicken and waffles sandwich is a true delight, with perfectly cooked chicken and mouth-watering waffles.
And for dessert, the fruit and Nutella crepe is a must-have.
Trust me, it’s as good as any Parisian crepe.
The diverse music playlist adds a fun touch to the overall experience, making me want to return every time.
Plus, the cafe is impeccably clean, even their bathrooms deserve a special mention.
RamenYa
Every time I crave some authentic Japanese ramen, I just head to RamenYa.
This informal restaurant is a gem in our area, serving classic Japanese noodle soups, sake, and beer.
One time, I invited a friend who was visiting me to have dinner at RamenYa, and I’m thrilled to say that both of us had a fantastic experience!
We arrived early, which was a good thing as the place filled up quickly after we were seated.
We ordered the shumai, dumplings, and black truffle noodle bowl with added pork – everything tasted delicious and exceeded our expectations.
In fact, the experience was so good that we planned to come back and try more of their offerings before my friend left.
The flavorful and rich broth of the ramen bowls is worth the wait, making it better than most ramen places I’ve tried.
Mission BBQ
Whenever I’m in the mood for some mouth-watering barbecue, I head straight to Mission BBQ.
This casual chain not only offers amazing BBQ dishes and classic sides but also honors soldiers and first responders with their memorabilia display.
I usually order brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken, which never disappoint.
Their standout side dish has to be Maggie’s Mac n Cheese – it’s simply divine.
I’ve been going there for years, sometimes even 2-3 times per week when I worked nearby, and the service has always been top-notch.
They greet you the moment you walk in the door and make you feel welcome.
I also love the monthly specials they offer, like the mashed potatoes that I tried last time.
As for the brisket, it’s always smoky and well-seasoned, with the perfect amount of fattiness.
Toni’s Grill Inc.
Toni’s Grill Inc. is a mom-and-pop, family-style old-school diner that’s just perfect for a hearty meal.
I’ve eaten there several times now, and each visit has been an absolute delight.
The food is pretty darn good, and the service is always friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home.
One of my usual picks at Toni’s Grill is their big breakfast with pancakes.
The eggs are cooked to perfection, the bacon is crispy, and the coffee is hot and full-bodied.
It’s a great place to start the day, and I love that it’s just around the corner from my home.
The seating is comfortable, and the place is always spotlessly clean.
It’s the kind of establishment where you feel genuinely welcomed, making it the ideal spot for a relaxed meal with friends and family.
Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar
I’ve always been a seafood lover, so when I decided to try out Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar, I was excited to see what they had to offer.
The moment I walked in, I was impressed by the clean and well-maintained ambiance of the restaurant.
As I began my meal, I couldn’t help but notice that the seafood was cooked to perfection.
At first, I wasn’t too fond of the house sauce I ordered, as it lacked the traditional salty seasoning I’m used to.
However, after dipping my seafood more heavily into the sauce from the steamer bag, the flavors began to come alive.
The spiciness also started to build up, making the meal even more enjoyable.
One aspect I absolutely loved was being able to eat with my hands.
They provided plastic gloves and aprons to protect my clothes from any sauce splatter, making the experience even more fun and reminiscent of my home dining experiences.
Arturo’s Trattoria
As a resident of this neighborhood for the past few years, I’ve always been on the lookout for new dining experiences.
Recently, I stumbled upon Arturo’s Trattoria, and I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered it earlier!
My significant other and I decided to give it a try for our date night, and we were not disappointed.
We were lucky enough to be squeezed in without a reservation, but I would highly recommend making one in advance to avoid any wait.
The ambiance was perfect for a romantic evening, with just the right amount of dim lighting.
The food was absolutely phenomenal, from the appetizers to the dessert.
We indulged in a four-course meal and ended up spending around $50 per person, which was absolutely worth it for the quality and flavors.
I particularly enjoyed their pasta dishes with ricotta, which were truly something special.
The service at Arturo’s Trattoria was top-notch.
Ann’s Dari Creme
I absolutely love going whenever I’m in the mood for a blast from the past.
This vintage sandwich shop has been a fixture in our community for over 71 years, and it still serves up delicious footlong hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, and more at reasonable prices.
My favorite thing to order is the double hotdog – trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
I usually skip the fries and shakes, but I have to admit they look really popular among other customers.
Plus, you can’t beat their soft-serve vanilla cone for only $2.10, and the chocolate dip is just $.50 more!
Rocco’s Pizzeria
Ever since I discovered Rocco’s Pizzeria, my Friday nights have been all about their delicious pizza.
I stumbled upon this hidden gem a couple of weeks ago and have been hooked ever since.
Their prices are competitive, and the size and quality of their pizza surpasses that of Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Ledo’s, and even Frank & Luke’s.
I still remember my first visit, when I saw a line to the door for pickups.
Their pizza has been consistently good ever since.
Rocco’s has become my go-to spot for that authentic taste that’s hard to find around here.
I usually order my pizza with extra sauce, light cheese, and well done, and they have always made it exactly the way I like it.
Their consistently delicious pizza and reasonable prices continue to draw me in every Friday night.
Aviation Deli & Grill
I am always on the hunt for a good deli, and Aviation Deli & Grill is one of my favorites in the area.
It’s a hidden gem located near the airport, and I can’t help but feel lucky to have discovered it.
There’s nothing quite like satisfying my cravings for a ham & Swiss sandwich by heading over to Aviation Deli & Grill.
What sets this deli apart from others is their extensive sandwich menu, with over 40 options to choose from!
They offer so many variations of my beloved ham & Swiss, which is perfect for when I want to try something new.
The prices are reasonable, and the quality and portion sizes always leave me satisfied.
Even though they don’t have an online ordering system, I can call in my order, and in the short drive there, they have everything ready, hot, and delicious.
I’m especially fond of their salad portions, sandwiches, and sides like pasta salad and potato salad.
Sometimes, I even treat myself to their banana pudding.
The customer service at Aviation Deli & Grill is top-notch, and I appreciate their willingness to accommodate my requests for add-ons like avocado and onion.
While there’s no in-house seating available, the convenience of picking up my order and enjoying it at home more than makes up for it.
Capri Pizza & Sub Shop
As a resident of Glen Burnie, I’ve tried quite a few pizza places, but nothing has quite hit the spot like Capri Pizza & Sub Shop.
I remember when I first stepped into this modest counter-serve eatery, I was surprised by the variety of mouth-watering options on their menu, from NY-style pies and sandwiches to red sauce pasta entrees.
One of the things that sets Capri apart for me is their delicious Sicilian Pizza.
The crust has the perfect combination of crunch and soft, airy dough, and with a full order of mushrooms on one half and plain cheese on the other, it’s an absolute delight!
And don’t even get me started on their subs.
The bread they use is homemade from pizza dough, and the salads are freshly made, adding to the overall quality of the meal.
Fifth Avenue Breakfast and Lunch
As a Glen Burnie local, I can’t help but sing the praises of Fifth Avenue Breakfast and Lunch.
This cozy breakfast spot has never failed to deliver exceptional dishes and warm service.
One of my favorites is their French toast with a side of home fries and the crispiest turkey bacon I’ve ever had.
They’ve answered all my inquiries with a smile, making me feel right at home.
I’ve also noticed how well they work together, especially during busy hours, which makes the dining experience even more enjoyable.
What I love most about Fifth Avenue is that they serve breakfast just about any time they’re open, so I never have to worry about missing out on my favorite meal of the day.
The atmosphere is pleasant, and even though there’s a steady flow of people, it never feels overwhelmingly busy.
Ja Kum Sung
I’ve dined at Ja Kum Sung on multiple occasions.
This spacious Korean restaurant is known not only for its traditional Korean dishes but also for its unique Korean-style Chinese entrees.
One of the things that sets Korean-style Chinese food apart from American-style Chinese food is that it’s less greasy, more flavorful, and generally better for your health.
The dishes at Ja Kum Sung are no exception.
I’ve tried their black bean paste noodles (jjangmyeon) and the white broth jjamppong, and both were authentic and delicious, without too much additives that can upset the stomach.
The paste and broth were well-balanced, and the noodles were perfectly cooked with the right thickness and texture.
The ingredients were fresh – vegetables and seafood – and the lunch portion was very generous.
And whenever I asked for more side dishes and water, I didn’t have to wait long.
I’ve also tried their hot pot and seafood pancake, which were pretty good as well.
Roy’s Kwik Korner
Roy’s Kwik Korner has become a regular pit stop for me and my family.
Their menu is loaded with options such as crab cakes, burgers, breakfast dishes, and other counter-serve goodies.
You can always count on them for a delicious and satisfying meal.
One of my personal favorites is their shrimp salad – I’m a pretty picky eater, and it never disappoints.
And let me tell you, I tried their crabs the other day, and they were absolutely huge and delicious!
I’ve been coming to Roy’s Kwik Korner for years now, and the food has never ceased to amaze me.
I would definitely recommend calling ahead of time for your order, as there’s usually a wait, given how popular the place is.
They even post their daily specials on their Facebook page, which I find super convenient – it’s much easier to see if there’s something I like rather than having to call in.
La Fondita 2 “Los Gallitos”
As someone who lives in the area, I’ve always been on the lookout for authentic Mexican cuisine.
Finally, I stumbled upon La Fondita 2 “Los Gallitos”, and I do admit it has quickly become one of my favorite spots for some delicious Latin American food.
One of the things that I absolutely love about this place is their delivery and catering service.
It’s convenient, and the prices are quite reasonable considering the high-quality ingredients they use.
I’ve had the Cubana torta, and it was a delightful blend of pork and steak with a burst of amazing flavors.
It’s evident that they use only the freshest ingredients in their dishes.
Besides the food, what really sets this place apart is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
I’ve also tried their tacos and quesadillas, and they were far from simple.
The well-spiced meat, great shell, and delicious sauce made for an unforgettable meal.
Willy’s Kitchen
I finally had the chance to visit Willy’s Kitchen last weekend, and it was a wonderful experience!
The homey atmosphere and locally sourced American fare made it a perfect spot for brunch with friends.
The wait for our food was a bit longer than expected, but it was well worth it!
The peach cobbler French toast tasted heavenly, and the bacon gouda omelet was a delightful combination of flavors.
My friend enjoyed the gluten-free pancakes, and another buddy couldn’t stop raving about the crab Benedict.
The indoor seating was cozy, but they also offered outdoor seating for those who prefer a more open space.
Sakura Japanese Steak, Seafood House & Sushi Bar
Last weekend, my friends and I decided to try out Sakura Japanese Steak, Seafood House & Sushi Bar, and it turned out to be the perfect choice for a fun and delicious evening.
The moment we entered, the beautiful Japanese decor and warm atmosphere made us feel welcome.
The teppanyaki show was a highlight of the night – both entertaining and visually stunning.
Not only was the performance exceptional, but the food itself was incredibly flavorful and satisfying.
The portions were generous, so we all had some leftovers to enjoy the next day.
My personal favorite was the filet and scallops hibachi combo, which was cooked to perfection.
I also tried both of their sauces, which added an extra layer of deliciousness to the meal.
The chicken liver appetizer was another standout dish that I would highly recommend.
My vegetarian friend was accommodated well with a mixed vegetable dish, and the restaurant even offered to cook her meal first to avoid any cross-contamination with meat products.
She really appreciated the gesture and enjoyed her meal as much as the rest of us.
To top it all off, I indulged in the Ex-Girlfriend cocktail, which was a delightful blend of flavors, especially if you’re a fan of sake.
Japanese Grill
One of my local hangouts for a quick and delicious meal is Japanese Grill in the food court.
This food court Japanese restaurant is a favorite for me and my family.
The shrimp has never disappointed me, and my kids absolutely love it!
What keeps me coming back to Japanese Grill is the convenience and the fact that the food is prepared quickly, making it an ideal choice for those busy days when we’re just looking for something tasty without any fuss.
Quarterfield Station
I recently decided to try out The Grill at Quarterfield Station, a casual American restaurant in my neighborhood.
I had heard good things about their food and atmosphere and wanted to see for myself.
I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the restrooms.
I ordered the surf and turf burger, which was a delicious combination of crab cake and a perfectly cooked burger.
The potato chips on the side were also scrumptious.
My friends and I shared the crab dip, which, while on the smaller side, was still enough for the three of us to enjoy.
We tried the cheesecake and key lime tart, which were both absolutely sublime.
The cheesecake was not too sweet, which I appreciated.
One of the best parts of my experience here was the ease and convenience of the payment process.
They accepted a wide variety of payment options, including cash, credit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even a barcode scan from your phone.
The restaurant was also close to a shopping center, with ample parking available.
Mi Pueblo
One of my favorite places to dine in town is Mi Pueblo, a family-owned Mexican restaurant offering a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes.
The colorful, art-filled dining room always sets the mood for a fun and enjoyable experience.
Their white cheese sauce is simply amazing, and the Chili Verde never disappoints – it has become a family favorite!
With such an extensive menu, it’s always exciting to try new dishes along with our usual choices.
The restaurant is also kept clean and well-maintained, which is a big plus for me.
It’s not just the food and ambiance that make Mi Pueblo stand out; they also play football (soccer) on the televisions, which adds to the lively atmosphere.
Other restaurants nearby
Jessica Zheng’s East West Bistro (Pasadena)
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area is Jessica Zheng’s East West Bistro.
It’s a cozy, white-tablecloth restaurant that offers a fantastic fusion of Asian flavors, with vegetarian options and a wine list to boot.
I ordered the Hunan shrimp dinner combo with fried rice and hot and sour soup, which was amazing, even though the soup had an unfamiliar consistency.
The shrimp tasted great, and the rice was good.
Since then, I’ve been back several times and have had the opportunity to try their poke bowl and sushi, which have become some of my favorite dishes.
My friends also love the noodles and seafood options they offer.
And the fact that they have alcohol available is a bonus!
Founders Tavern & Grille (Pasadena)
One of my favorite spots to unwind and enjoy a delicious meal in town is Founders Tavern & Grille.
Their rustic-chic atmosphere, complete with vintage steel and wood decor, always makes me feel right at home.
It’s the perfect place to catch up with friends over a seasonal cocktail or two on their outdoor patio, which is always impeccably clean and inviting.
I’m a huge fan of their menu, which offers locally-sourced comfort food.
I recently tried their strawberry salad and candied bacon, and they were both incredible.
The salad was fresh and flavorful, while the bacon was a sweet and savory treat that I couldn’t get enough of.
Another favorite of mine is their Reuben sandwich, which never disappoints.
While it’s true that not every dish might be perfect, I find that the overall experience at Founders Tavern & Grille more than makes up for the occasional miss.
The friendly customer service and cozy atmosphere keep me coming back time after time.
And let’s not forget about their unique offerings, like their Chicken and Gravy Pizza, which I’ve been meaning to try!
