Police: 15-year-old arrested after woman shot, killed in Orange County

On Feb. 7, shortly before 7 p.m., Angela Sutton Washington, 61, was shopping at a plaza located on North Lane when she was shot. Police say upon arrival, they found Washington with a gunshot wound lying on the sidewalk. Medics tried to revive her but she died due to her injuries.The suspect fled from the scene after the shooting. Friday, police announced they arrested the suspect, a 15-year-old boy. In a post, police said, “Through relentless efforts of our Homicide Detectives along with cooperation from the community and Central Florida Crimeline a suspect has been captured.” In March, Chief Eric Smith and Washington’s son renewed their call for those witnesses to come forward and said they will offer a reward for information. Crimeline offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The teenager is facing the charge of first-degree murder with a firearm.
