5 Lady Damus (Bet Now: $2.10) on top in the opener. This filly has only had one run for the Massingham camp, which saw her bolt up over 1250m here in December before being spelled and I love horses that go out for a spell on a high. No trials/jumpouts but she seems a pretty sharp type and maps to get a beaut run near the speed, doing no work and being strong at the end.

3 Caressing Rupert (Bet Now: $4.60) has done a super job since joining Sharlee Hoffman. Defied a notable betting drift to win at this track/distance two back in the first run the stable before another big win at Innisfail, giving them a start and a beating. Not the best of racing patterns but has gotten away with it so far and no reason why she can’t win again.
Long Shot
2 Simply Better (Bet Now: $2.50) looks suited at the 950m set up for Jarrod Wehlow. Formerly with Kelly Schweida, she has done a good job, placing two back at Mackay before a strong on speed win over 1000m at Townsville where she was there to be run down but found under pressure to fend them off and win. Think if she jumps/runs, she’ll look the winner for a long way.

1 Conquered Journey (Bet Now: $4.40) is the one for me in terms of a tip but not really a race I want to get involved in. He didn’t win in his first prep but for the most part, he was far from disgraced, the latest run being on Feb 28 at Townsville when fifth to Blondie’s Secret. Ryan Wiggins gets on very well with the stable and their runners so him being booked fresh signals some level of intent. He’ll do me.

8 Miss Daurian (Bet Now: $4.40) is a key threat. She is knocking on the door to win her maiden, finishing runner up her past three, the latest coming over 1100m at Mackay when beaten over two lengths by impressive winner Bright Tiara. Think the 950m set up is ideal for her, she’ll be near the speed and will be stronger than most at the end.
Long Shot
9 Northern Girl (Bet Now: $26.00) is capable with her best. She has had three runs back from a spell, first up being at this track/distance when far from disgraced before a plain run at 1250m, then placing at a Non TAB at Mareeba. Has a gate to do no work in the run and if the breaks go her way, she is good enough to threaten.

Fitter and up to 1250m, I am in the corner of 3 Brave Intent (Bet Now: $2.80). Janel Ryan trains this filly, who resumed over 950m here and was very good from the back, closing off with purpose when a narrow second to Red Boomshakalaka. She should have good room for improvement and up in trip, a drag into the race, she’ll be extremely hard to hold out.

5 Jazz Worthy (Bet Now: $4.50) has been a model of consistency since day one and is knocking on the door to break her maiden tag. She has placed in all three runs this time in, the latest over 1200m at Townsville when near the speed throughout and battled away gamely in defeat when second to Decrypting Gold. Tricky draw, but should slide forward and take running down.
Long Shot
8 Casual (Bet Now: $9.50) is a knockout chance. He was game in defeat here two back before going to the Decrypting Gold race mentioned above where he was tardy away, settled back and made up minor headway but the bad start sealed his fate. Has a gate to use to settle much closer in the run and off prior form, he’s good enough to threaten.
Race 4. (14:56) Massingham Racing (Bm65) 1500m

7 Ten Schilling (Bet Now: $1.95) saves his best for Cairns and with that I mind, I am leaning his way. His last few runs have come over 1250m here, winning three back before placing his next two, the latest being a narrow second to Stats. Unknown at the trip but racing like it will be fine and strikes a winnable race.

3 Healing Game (Bet Now: $8.00) can bounce back for Fred Wieland. He ran over the mile at Townsville last time where I thought he was ridden a touch too warm and it left him empty in the straight when down the track behind Bravio. I think with a more patient steer, he can be more effective late and his best is certainly good enough to take this out.
Long Shot
2 Vandangle (Bet Now: $6.50) can be a big improver here for Matt McGuire. He resumed on testing ground at Innisfail and struggled to pick his feet up in the conditions when down the track behind Avatea. Has more upside than most with firmer footing and gets Ryan Wiggins aboard so he has a bit in his corner to run a much improved race.
Race 5. (15:31) Edmonton Plumbing Hcp 1250m

5 Go Getaboy (Bet Now: $2.30) is a smart three year old and happy to be in his corner. That said, he has let punters down this time in, being defeated in all four runs, but that said, he hasn’t been too far away. Latest run was over 1000m at Townsville when back in trip from 1300m and kept finding the line when second to Simply Better. Back up in trip to his pet track/distance, hard to beat with luck from the draw.

1 Full Recognition (Bet Now: $3.50) saves his best for Cairns and looks to have returned in really good order. He was an alarming betting drifter when resuming over 950m here but nobody told the horse that as he came with a well timed finish from off the speed, launching late to get the job done. Has good upside to come and up in trip, I think he only runs well.
Long Shot
3 Tutelage (Bet Now: $26.00) has to be given another look. Janel Ryan trained gelding that resumed in the Full Recognition race mentioned above where he got back and didn’t come on at all in a pretty plain return. He’s a better horse than that and up in trip, drawn to do no work, he is one I can entertain for wider multiples.

Tricky race. Siding with 2 Indictment (Bet Now: $7.00). He was kept pretty safe in betting when resuming over 1200m at Townsville but he just looked in need of the run when down the track behind Hurtle, beaten five lengths. He tends to get better as the prep goes on so he might need one more run, but he has a touch of quality about him and loves the track/distance.

9 Broadway Babe (Bet Now: $8.50) looks to have returned in pretty good order. This mare resumed with a bang over 950m here, giving them a start and a beating, launching late to finish over the top in such an impressive return. She has that touch of brilliance about her so whether she is suited at the short course or she’ll still be effective at 1250m is the query. Either way, she commands respect.
Long Shot
11 Spirit Meister (Bet Now: $6.50) will jump near the bunny and give them something to chase. He ran at this track/distance last start where he attempted to lead throughout and he gave a pretty solid kick but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Stats. The end of 1250m is the knock with this guy, but with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance to see it out.
Race 7. (16:41) Ccw Cabinet Works Pty Ltd-C6 950m

3 King Jester (Bet Now: $3.40) on top in the get out. Rod Miller trained gelding that is a very consistent animal and is suited at the track/distance. He was backed as if unbeatable when racing at it last start and looked the winner when the button was pushed on speed but he had no answers late for the finale produced by Full Recognition. That was his first run in a few weeks so he has room for improvement and gets Wiggins to steer.

2 Loud Noise (Bet Now: $6.50) is the key threat. He ran second to Full Recognition race mentioned above and his run had plenty of merit given he was wide no cover on speed yet kept finding the line and was only run down late by Full Recognition. Maps to get a much better run in transit this time around and if there is petrol left in the tank, he’s one of the hardest to beat.
Long Shot
12 Snap Chat (Bet Now: $34.00) is one to entertain for wider multiples. He resumed at this track/distance where he was ridden with a sit and found the line well enough without threatening behind Broadway Babe. Good second up record and despite a tricky gate to overcome, he’s one of the contenders for sure and a win wouldn’t shock at all.
