All season, Antonio Brown has been teasing he may make an appearance on the turf, joining the Albany Empire — a team he (sort of) owns — for a game.
And now, it seems, that day is here. Brown has promised to suit up for Saturday’s game against the Fayetteville Mustangs.
While an informal poll on WGNA’s social media found more than 90 percent of respondents are not interested in watching the controversial former NFL wide receiver play, I could be convinced to head downtown and check it out.
I want to…
- Get close enough to ask what was in the suitcase he carried at the first game he attended.
- Celebrate that while playing he won’t be sending tweets filled with poor grammar, odd punctuation and abbreviations — I admit — I don’t always understand.
- Hear if he’ll claim he now “owns” the MVP Arena.
- Watch for how long it takes the 34-year-old Brown to pull a hamstring.
- See if he’ll receive a bouquet of tulips — straight from the Riggi home (which he’s trying to purchase)— at the end of the game.
- Learn whether his fur coat fits under the pads.
- Find out if I won the bet on how many quarters he’ll last before he flings his shirt off and quits the team.
- Embrace the potential of a father-son duo in the receiving corps. His dad, Touchdown Eddie Brown, is in the Arena Football League Hall of Fame.
- Play the over/under on how many head coaches he’ll hire — and fire — for the duration of the game.
- See if he actually plays (or even shows up).
