Another week, another 10+ new places to eat. Honestly, where would you be without us?
Because from Canberra’s newest fine dining darling in Barton to charcoal chicken (that has a cult-like status) in Gungahlin, we have the low-down on all the new places open—or opening soon—in Canberra.

Yaki Boi (Phillip)
It’s made a name for itself in the city for its weird and wonderful Japanese fusion food, but now Southsiders can rejoice as Yaki Boi throws open its doors at a brand-new location—Westfield Woden. Located next to Hoyts (making it a must-stop location for moviegoers pre-or-post-show) the new location will have all of the iconic offerings found in the city—including the notably mouth-watering grilled cheesy oysters.

El Jannah (Gungahlin)
Legendary. Charcoal. Chicken. El Jannah is now open in Gungahlin to bring locals mouth-watering boxes, burgers, rolls, salads, and classic Lebanese-Australian plates all featuring their soulful chicken. It has a cult following for a reason—you’ll have to try it for yourself.

Oh My Dough (Phillip)
Puffy pizza bites, old-school classics, wraps, pasta, hot desserts and more—Oh My Dough has it all (including gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options). Order yourself one of their many pizzas (smoked salmon?! Pulled pork?! Gourmet chickpeas?!) for a cosy night at home.

Bakehouse (Kambah)
Located conveniently at the Kambah Village Shopping Centre, Southsiders can now stop in for a sweet or savoury artisan baked good from Bakehouse. And with everything from ‘made without gluten goodies’ to Jalapeno and Cheddar Sourdough, there’s literally something to eat for every occasion (not that you need one).

Ureshii (Tuggeranong)

Just in time for winter, Fricken has a brand-new pop-up in Belconnen. Serving all of your favourites (including gluten-free and vegan options)—and available via UberEats and DoorDash—they’ll be open every fricken lunch and dinner. Run, don’t walk.

Tiger Lane (City)
If you haven’t heard the news (have you been living under a rock?!) Tiger Lane is now open at Canberra Centre and just…wow. Inspired by the hawker centres of Asia, Tiger Lane showcases nine dining outlets spanning cuisines from Japan, South Korea, Southern China, Northern China and South East Asia with one of Australia’s most celebrated chefs at the helm.

Central Social Club (City)
Family-friendly all-day dining, a tempting wine list and some of the latest dinner service in Canberra? Sign us up. Central Social Club is the newest place to go if you’re looking for a meal that pushes the boundaries with familiar and new flavours—like triple cooked Buffalo-style chicken wings with blue cheese and buffalo sauces. Beloved Campbell café Intra has brought its signature minimalism (and phenom coffee) to Lonsdale Street. Covering breakfast and lunch—as well as early afternoon wine—seven days a week, it’s a slightly different vibe to Campbell, featuring an expansive indoor space in Intra’s signature moody palette. Expect a menu that is rooted in, but not limited to, European comfort food.

Canberra’s newest fine dining darling—Louis—will open in Canberra’s south on Friday 2 June, helmed by none other than Aubergine’s Ben Willis. Located in DOMA’s Realm Precinct, Louis promises to be a “multi-layered experience of fine dining in the classical style along with a sophisticated cocktail bar experience”. Here to transport you from the bustle of Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle to the warm embrace of a classic European bistro, we’re very excited for this one.
