5 Listentozou (Bet Now: $3.40) I am keen on running well at start one. Chris Waller trains this son of Zoustar. He’s had three jumpouts to get ready for start one, the latest coming last Friday at Flemington and gee he tanked in the run under McNeil, moving with plenty up the sleeve. Bred to appreciate further than 1000m but the way he jumped out, I think he’ll be winning this and better races.
Danger
1 Mafia (Bet Now: $7.50) looks a nice colt for Team Snowden. He resumed last Thursday at Wyong and while he didn’t beat much, I thought he was pretty sharp in winning. He was on speed throughout and was trucking in the run before Schofield clicked him up and away he went for a nice win. Stable are very good with their juveniles and with his racing style, he’ll take running down.
Long Shot
2 Spring Eagle (Bet Now: $18.00) is 1/1 to start his career and that is all you can do really. He was big odds when debuting at Sale at the midweeks but he let down nicely from the back, giving them a start and a beating in a strong debut win. There is a bit of depth to this line up but with the run under the belt, that should hold him in good stead.
Race 2. (12:25) Quayclean (Bm78) 1300m

3 Free Willed (Bet Now: $5.50) is a progressive filly for Cindy Alderson that is heading in the right direction. She put together a couple of sharp wins on the bounce before racing at Flemington three weeks back where she was backed with confidence late but didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight and should have finished closer behind Jenny Jerome. More positive ride this time around and she can bounce back.
Danger
1 Jenny Jerome (Bet Now: $8.00) is flying for Patrick Payne and commands respect. Gave them a start and a beating two back at Sandown, rounding them up from last before going to Flemington where she again got back in the run but let down with purpose out wide to win impressively. Not the best of racing patterns but she has a strong finale and can finish over the top of them again.
Long Shot
9 Movader (Bet Now: $16.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. She is several weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance where she was a bit flat footed when asked to let down on the bog track but picked up and was pretty good late in the piece behind Free Willed. If the track is on the firmer side, which it should be compared to last start, she appeals.
Race 3. (13:00) Evergreen Turf (Bm78) 2400m

Happy to speck 5 Strawberry Rock (Bet Now: $7.00) each way for Maher/Eustace. He is three weeks between runs since racing over 2400m at Rosehill where I was keen on him running well but gee he was given an ordinary steer from Dolan. Wide no cover for the entire 2400m trip, he was still there with around 250m to go but just tired late. More economical run in transit here, he is the each way bet.
Danger
4 Mimi’s Award (Bet Now: $8.00) has been a frustrating mare to follow at times but she comes here off a last start win so she commands respect. Game second two back at Sandown to dominant winner Irish Butterfly before going to Flemington where she got a 12/10 ride from Lafferty and was strong late in getting the win, her first in a long time. Now she has got that win on the board, she can go on with it.
Long Shot
15 Sky Horse (Bet Now: $31.00) is a knockout chance for Michelle Payne. She ran two weeks ago at the mile here when back off the good speed and found the line really well I thought when a close up fourth to Pitchanun, beaten just under three lengths. She can be hard to catch at times, but the way she is racing at the moment, being around the mark, she commands respect.
Race 4. (13:35) Senet Gamb. Law Experts (Bm70) 1600m

4 Frigid (Bet Now: $4.40) on top. John Leek Jr has started, finally, to get the Cerise and White going and this mare looks ready to win. Did more than enough fresh during the Warrnambool Carnival before going to this track/distance two weeks ago and found the line really well I thought when third to Pitchanun, beaten just under two lengths. Hard fit now, can settle closer, hard to beat.
Danger
2 Arktika (Bet Now: $4.60) is unbeaten second up and off the return, she can certainly make it 3/3 second up. She resumed a few weeks back over 1400m at Flemington where she was just off the speed and kept on in a solid effort, beaten a couple of lengths by a very much in form Party For One. Like her here with the run under the belt and she appeals big time.
Long Shot
14 It’s True (Bet Now: $18.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Needed the run fresh at Flemington behind Party For One before going here two weeks back where she was near the genuine speed and just couldn’t maintain her run, finishing down the track behind Pitcahnun. She has been a bit plain in two runs back but hard fit now, I think she gets another chance, but it’s last chance territory.

Throw at the stumps via 6 The Gauch (Bet Now: $13.00), who is having his first run for David Noonan after formerly being with Maher/Eustace. His last run came on July 16 when a solid fourth down the Flemington straight behind a nice horse, Nicolini Vito. He’s had several jumpouts this time in to get ready for the return, the last couple with Blinkers on, so there is intent I think for a forward showing fresh, and down in the weights, potentially strong late…happy to speck each way.
Danger
5 Starry Legend (Bet Now: $5.50) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. They rode him with a sit a fortnight back in the Bel Esprit and he seemed to react to it, finding the line strongly and was only nabbed late by the very much in form Pintoff. That was his first run for Dan O’Sullivan so I think with room for improvement, he rates highly against these.
Long Shot
3 Esta La Roca (Bet Now: $6.50) hasn’t won in a little while but with her racing style, she’ll give herself every chance. She led in the Bel Esprit two weeks back but just copped too much heat on speed and just felt the pinch late in the piece, beaten just over two lengths by Pintoff. The last bit will test but he’ll give herself every chance and give plenty of cheek because her best is clearly good enough.

2 Flash Feeling (Bet Now: $7.00) looks ready to win for John Sadler. He ran over 1800m at Flemington a few weeks ago and I think you can easily make a case that he should have won. He got badly held up at a vital stage before eventually getting clear and finding the line really well late in the piece behind Daytona Bay. Hard fit now…back in trip is interesting but I do think he is flying.
Danger
14 Our Redente (Bet Now: $4.80) is hard to beat if he can settle closer in the run. He ran in the Brayden Star race from a fortnight back here where he got a mile out of his ground but I liked the way he kept finding the line late in the race, beaten just over two lengths. He has that 1600m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead for this.
Long Shot
20 Crackerjack Prince (Bet Now: $23.00) is a horse with talent that I wouldn’t totally dismiss. He was big odds when racing a few weeks back at Flemington and while he was never a threat to Altivo, I didn’t mind the way he found the line late in the piece. He has always teased to be a good horse and that return was encouraging so IMO I think he is a definite winning chance.

10 Golden Path (Bet Now: $3.50) looks a smart three year old for the Price/Kent stable that was backed with confidence when debuting over 1400m at Pakenham and #They got it spot on as he gapped his rivals and won with something in hand, clocking great late splits in the process. Extra 200m should be fine and the stable is very good when it comes to these progressive younger types.
Danger
1 Elkington Road (Bet Now: $6.50) has been up a while but is holding his form really well. Game fourth two back over 1800m behind Dashing before going to the mile where he knuckled down strongly under Mott and the bob of the head went his way, just getting the win. Not sure when the end of prep run is coming…could be here? But the way he’s racing, he has to be respected.
Long Shot
14 New York Hurricane (Bet Now: $34.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. He ran on the Pakenham Synthetic last time out where he got a fair way out of his ground and was very good late, closing off to run fourth to a nice up and comer, Tuscan Sun. That is two runs on the bounce at 1400m and I do think getting to 1600m, he is not entirely hopeless.

7 Do Ya Punk (Bet Now: $12.00) has to be given another look. I was keen on him when he raced two weeks ago at this track/distance but a combination of the horse doing a bit wrong and poor decisions from Hefel cost him dearly. He was going to be right in the finish I thought but things went wrong in the straight and it ended up being an ugly watch. If the breaks go his way, he can win for sure.
Danger
2 He’s Our Bonneval (Bet Now: $3.40) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Both runs back from a spell have come here, resuming at this trip when a closing fourth to Chassis before stepping up to 1400m two weeks ago where he had three wide cover before coming wider and letting down hard, but couldn’t quite get there when second to Monarch Of Egypt. Hard fit, can settle closer, he’ll take beating.
Long Shot
9 Hello Broadcast (Bet Now: $18.00) comes through the same race as Do Ya Punk from two weeks back, won by Cardigan Queen. Nothing went right for this guy, but that is the story of his life given the racing pattern he has, where it means he needs more good luck than other horses. Drawn soft to potentially settle closer, I think he’s potentially dangerous.

I am convinced that 3 Cherry Tortoni (Bet Now: $16.00) is flying and with a half decent ride, he will take a power of beating. He ran over the mile at Flemington three weeks ago and really, he should have won. Laura Lafferty is riding well, but I had no idea what she was doing on this horse. Could have easily come widest and let down but instead she steered towards the inside, inferior ground, and then got badly held up. Have to butter up.
Danger
13 Alverdun (Bet Now: $8.50) has been up a while for Busuttin/Young but is seemingly holding his form pretty well. Dominant win two back over the mile at Sandown before having a mini break and racing there again a few weeks back and was pretty solid from off the speed when fourth to noted swimmer Gunstock. Fresh legs at 1800m is interesting, but commands respect given how he’s racing.
Long Shot
Fitter and up to 1800m are two big ticks for 2 Makram (Bet Now: $15.00). Quality stayer that resumed over the mile at Flemington where he paraded like he would need the run and that is how it panned out when down the track behind Pinstriped. Great second up record and IMO gets a much better set up this time around so he can run a much improved race.
