- Alpharetta police are investigating a severe beating that caused the victim to brought to the hospital. He saw something illegal being done by two individuals in an alleyway at the Avalon apartments on the evening of May 12. When the victim approached the two individuals, a male suspect beat him with a belt and a belt buckle; he needed to go to the hospital because of his injuries. The suspects then walked towards the business area in Avalon. If you know anything about these two suspects, please contact Detective G. - Fulton County’s school board is working on their new budget. The proposed plan includes “5.1% raises and 2% retention payments for all employees”. In addition, new teachers at schools that are considered difficult to staff will receive a one-time bonus of $5,000. As another incentive to encourage new teachers at those schools, current teachers who refer another teacher to to them will get a $250 bonus. Fulton county doesn’t expect an increase in their millage rate – currently at 17.24 mills. The final budget vote will take place on June 6. subscription ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- You’re invited to an open house on Tuesday, May 23 in the Milton Senior Center, located at the Thomas Byrd Sr. House, 1560 Hopewell Road, from 10 a.m. until noon. This facility was recently renovated and can now offer services to more older adults. Attendees at the open house can take advantage of free blood pressure checks, preventing scams, fall prevention and more. - If you’re interested in keeping up to date on happenings on Windward Parkway and GA-9 North of Mayfield Rd, there is a meeting on Wednesday, May 24 on that topic. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, located at 10000 Avalon Boulevard, Suite 100, in Alpharetta. The purpose of the meeting is to create a plan to identify opportunities to improve “quality of life and economic competitiveness” in that region. Additional information is available at

- Jones Bridge Road in Johns Creek will be made wider between Waters Road and State Bridge Road starting soon. The project will convert the two lane road into three lanes, and a sidewalk on one side. It is fully funded using TSPLOST I funds. subscription ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The recent blood drive run by the Milton Police was a huge success. Dozens of people donated blood, and 24 pints were collected in just four hours. This event was part of Police week ; there was a secure shredding event a few days ago. Today, there will be a public awards ceremony at 3 p.m. at Milton Municipal Court. - The King’s Ridge Christian School varsity basketball team was honored for “being the A Division 1 State Basketball Champions”. Senator Brandon Beach, who was one of the founding Board members of the school, told the team to be leaders for Christ and their peers.
