Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:
- Around noon on Apr. 24, police pursued a male who was wearing a pink hoodie and riding a white dirt bike recklessly on Old Alabama Road and State Bridge Road. The biker was able to escape police pursuit by riding on the sidewalk, rolling through stop signs, passing several vehicles on the double yellow lines, and eventually riding into the woods. (Appen Media)
- Recently, the Johns Creek City Council approved a series of contracts that will widen the Jones Bridge Road, from Waters Road to State Bridge Road. The contracts include a $21.7 million construction contract with CMES, a $912,985 five percent construction contingency, a $325,000 task order with WSP, and a $3.7 million agreement with Fulton County to relocate the waterline. The project will be fully funded by TSPLOST I. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- Johns Creek’s annual Touch-A-Truck is this Saturday, May 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at City Hall! The free, family-friendly event features construction equipment that you can see up close and touch including backhoes, big rigs, and more. There will also be family-friendly activities. From my notebook:
- The City of Johns Creek released a sneak peek of the new Rogers Bridge over the Chattahoochee River! The bridge will provide pedestrians with a connection across the river to Duluth/Gwinnett County. It will be accessible through the future Cauley Creek Park, which is expected to open this summer. View the link to see a video of the bridge. (City of Johns Creek, Georgia – Government via Facebook)
- Dr. Michelle Au, Rep. of Johns Creek, asks the public to join the blood drive in Johns Creek on May 25! From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Johns Creek City Hall. Sign up here or just walk-up. Your blood donation could save the lives of up to three patients during the worst blood shortage in a decade. (Dr. Michelle Au via Twitter)
- Online house hunting is great, but sometimes you just need to see the home in-person! Check out upcoming open houses in the Johns Creek area, including a five-bedroom on Whitestone Court on Saturday, May 20. (Johns Creek Patch)
