Here are the top stories today in Phoenix:
- Beginning March 20, proposed changes to water usage rates and a Stormwater Excise Tax in Phoenix will be introduced to the community in a series of public meetings. The changes and tax are designed to help the Phoenix Water Services Department keep pace with inflation and legislation, demanding more attention, priority and value to monitoring water use in the nation’s fourth largest city. - On Saturday, March 18, 72-year-old Phoenix native Joseph Robert “Joe Bob” Garcia, a US Marine Corps Veteran, received a Purple Heart decoration ceremony after waiting more than 50 years. Garcia’s friends, family and the Military Order of the Purple Heart gathered at American Legion Post 41 to surprise the veteran in honor of his time in Vietnam years ago. (Republic of Arizona)
- A man is in custody after hitting two women with a car Friday night in Phoenix and fleeing the scene. Police responded around 7:45 p.m. to a hit-and-run near Thomas Road and 22nd Street, where they found two injured women in the street.
